Learners’ Group

The enormous contribution that young people make to our organisation could never be overstated. In recent years we have been blessed with a steady stream of promising young talent feeding into the senior band from various learner groups. The present conductor of the New Brighton Silver Band, Lachlan Grant, is the current band tutor. Lachlan has come from a brass band background in Auckland playing for Auckland City Brass and is currently playing for the NZ Army Band  and has previous experience working with young learner players. His motivating and patient approach to his students learning is based on the simple philosophy that music should be fun. He believes that if young and old musicians are also taught the technical aspects associated with good playing then success in reaching ones potential is more likely.

The gift of music bridges all generations. It can open up endless opportunities and create life-long friendships – our band is testament to that!
