We are a community focused band styled in typical British Brass Band tradition.
Founded in 1890, today we consist of an enthusiastic group of amateur musicians, committed to improving our personal skill levels and sharing and growing the joy of brass band music.
Our Band rooms are located in Shaw Avenue, Rawhiti Domain in the seaside suburb of New Brighton. See Map
A band for all ages
The New Brighton Silver Band has an interesting array of regular playing commitments within the Burwood/Pegasus area. Community concerts, Gala days, Anzac parades, Christmas parades and carolling form a large part of our playing enjoyment. We also attend Provincial and National ‘D’ Grade competitions whenever possible.
The band has a concert repertoire to appeal to all ages. It features aspects of popular music as well as classical pieces, marches, hymn tunes and a growing list of original arrangements in many styles. We currently have 28 registered members with a good mix of youth and experience within our ranks.
To all who enter our band room we offer a friendly and relaxed playing environment where all are welcome.

As a registered charity our organisation is always looking for new fundraising opportunities or donations to help support our work within the community. If you or your business can help us in any way we would love to hear from you.
In recent years our Bandroom walls have become a repository for early Christchurch Brass Band photographs and ephemera. The earliest material dates from our own founding in 1890. We are always looking to add to this collection and would welcome any bequests or the opportunity to scan and record anything relevant to the New Brighton Band or Christchurch Brass Bands in general.
